§ 01 · The Pavilion
Year-round recreation, resolved as a permanent structure.
The sports pavilion is the fourth structure on the Muskoka Modern compound — a covered recreation space at the upper terrace of the site. The program called for a dedicated space for active use that didn’t compete with the main cottage or impose on the view corridor down to the lake. The steel structure and translucent panel system keep the space open to the seasons while extending usability through the shoulder months.
Napier Valley Construction delivered the pavilion on the compound timeline. The material language follows through from the cottage: dark steel, minimal trim, a building that stands back and lets the landscape read. The footprint is compact; the feeling inside is not.
