§ 01 · The Boathouse

Two storeys above the water.

Walkers Point Boathouse rises two storeys from the dock. The programme is simple and layered — covered slips below, habitable space above. Large overhangs shade the decks and soften the transition between structure and water, keeping the boathouse cool through the Muskoka summer while protecting the envelope from rain and snow. Built with Broadview Building Company, the boathouse sits at the intersection of utility and repose: functional at the water level, generous and calm above it.

§ 02 · The Design

From brief to boathouse.

The design process moved through three stages — early concept sketches, developed documentation, and the completed structure — each refining the balance between vertical ambition and horizontal rootedness at the water’s edge.
STAGE 01 · Concept Sketch
Massing and plan studies — establishing the two-storey volume, slip count, and overhang profile.
STAGE 02 · Design Development
Elevations and sections refined — locating decks, upper-level glazing, and the structural logic of the overhangs.
STAGE 03 · As Built
Construction complete. The boathouse at Walkers Point, built by Broadview Building Company.

More boathouses.

Every waterfront site brings its own set of constraints and possibilities. These projects share the same commitment to architecture that belongs at the water.
