Who we are
Principal-led, and small on purpose.
Corbin Patten Designs is a bespoke building design practice specializing in cottages, vacation homes and boathouses, working between Muskoka and Toronto.
Every project is led by the principal, from the first site walk through construction. Building design and interior design are developed together in one studio, so the building and its interior are resolved as a single design.
CPD was founded in 2014 by Corbin Patten, who grew up on Lake Rosseau in Muskoka and brings a lifetime of cottage and boathouse know-how to every site. Our goal is to design unique, functional buildings that improve both our clients’ quality of life and the community at large.
What we design
Five project types.
Homes · designed around lifestyle and landscape
Cottages · site-led design for Muskoka and beyond
Boathouses · marine structures that work with the shoreline
Garages · complementary detached structures
Outbuildings · cabins, workshops and utility structures
How we deliver
Ten defined phases.
From Pre-Design and Concept Design through approvals, construction documents, permit, build support, furniture installation and move-in, with a clear decision point at every step.
Tools
Modelled before it is built.
Revit · every project built in full 3D as a BIM model
Lumion · exterior and interior renderings with accurate light and materials
SentioVR · interactive 3D tours in a browser or VR goggles
Our mission · The values we live by
Healthier homes
We design our projects to be efficient in their use of daylight, space, materials, and energy.
Unique and innovative
We work with our clients to create innovative designs that respond to their natural environment and the specific site conditions. Our goal is to create spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also comfortable and efficient to live in.
True to materials
We believe in embracing the materials of construction and understand their impact on a space. Wood, for example, has an inherent warmth and beauty that should be celebrated and not hidden.
Simplify lives
We do everything in our power to provide the best client experience we can offer, from the design process and beyond.
