The Concept

One long building for one long view.

Juddhaven is organized around a single compositional idea: a linear form stretched parallel to the water, bisected at its centre by the entrance and main living room. Walk through the front door and the lake is immediately ahead of you. There is no corridor to navigate, no turn to make — the connection between arrival and view is direct and intentional. The long plan allows every principal room to face the water, placing the view at the heart of each space in the home.

The Threshold

Compression before the reveal.

The entry sequence is deliberate. Arriving from the road, you pass through a compressed, sheltered threshold — low ceiling, controlled daylight — before the living room opens fully to the lake. The contrast is the experience. It is a technique as old as the best lakeside buildings: make you wait, then give you everything at once. On Lake Rosseau, the panorama earns the pause before it.

The Programme

Designed for a full season on the lake.

At 5,600 square feet, the programme carries six bedrooms and six bathrooms across two levels, organized to balance family gathering and private retreat. A four-season room extends the living season into the shoulder months. The main-floor accessible bedroom was built for long-term flexibility. Below grade, a fully equipped lower level handles the overflow of summer: additional bedrooms, a recreation room, and direct outdoor access to the fire pit and dock.
