LESS

LIGHT
We design sustainable vacation homes that make the most of natural light. We believe that good design should take advantage of the unique characteristics of each site, and we use passive solar principles to do just that. By orienting the home to take advantage of the sun’s path, we can minimize the need for artificial lighting and maximize the potential for solar gain.

EXPERIENCE
At the heart of each project is an understanding of what's important in a sustainable house design to you. We take the time to learn about the nuances that make your property special, such as important views and land features. We work to make sure those features are celebrated in the design. It's also important to us that we understand how you live in your sustainable vacation home. We look at things like where you spend most of your time both indoors and outdoors and how you entertain guests before settling on a design. By taking all these factors into account, we create eco-friendly cottages that perfectly reflect your unique style and provide years of enjoyment.

STRUCTURE
We create environmentally conscious structures that minimize their footprint while still providing the necessary support and function. Our focus is on creating structures that are both strong and expressive. By finding the perfect balance between these two elements, we can create buildings that are not only environmentally friendly but also visually appealing.

SUSTAINABILITY
Our mission at CPD is to create healthier homes and simplify lives. A big part of that is creating a healthy and environmentally conscious environment, both inside and outside the home. We believe that being energy-efficient is a key part of sustainability. So, we make sure that our designs take advantage of natural resources like sunlight and wind to minimize the need for artificial lighting and heating. We also source our products from sustainable and renewable resources whenever possible. And we’re always looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact. We know that creating a sustainable future is a journey, and we’re committed to taking small steps every day to make a big difference.

Design Approach

At its core, our design approach is about LESS. We want to reduce the environmental impact of our buildings, and we want to simplify the lives of our clients. We believe that less is more and that by carefully focusing on the needs of our clients, we can design homes that give them everything they need.

We believe that good design should last for generations, and that means creating spaces that are not only environmentally friendly but also built to stand the test of time. To that end, we start with a conversation; getting to know you, your lifestyle, and your needs. From there, we move into programming, which is all about understanding the spaces required to meet your lifestyle needs. At the same time, we analyze the site for important views, natural features, slope, and privacy. Once we have that information, we can start the design process. We lean on our mission and our core principles of LESS (Light, Experience, Structure, and Sustainability) to create spaces that are both beautiful and sustainable.

Our Approach

Summary

At its core, great design is about collaboration. A single designer may have a strong vision for a project, but it takes a team of people to bring that vision to life. By working together, designers and builders can share their knowledge and expertise to create something truly special. The collaborative process also helps to ensure that the project stays on track and on budget. When everyone is working together towards a common goal, there is less room for error. This all leads to a better result for the client. So why us? Because we believe in the power of collaboration. By working together, we can create beautiful spaces that will truly inspire.
